Graduate Spotlight: Brittanie Rivas

May 7, 2020

Alexa Saavedra, Strategic Communications Coordinator

Meet Brittanie, an Army Veteran, wife and mother. Brittanie will be receiving an Associate of Applied Science in Nursing degree.

Belonging to a family comprised of medical field professionals influenced her decision to pursue a career in healthcare. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 2018, Brittanie decided to further her education at St. Philip’s since it was conveniently close to her family.

During her academic journey, Brittanie experienced the birth of her two children. Her first child was born shortly after beginning the program and her second most recently on April 9th.

The birth of her children sparked her interest to specialize in labor and delivery. “When I had my first child, the nurses were amazing and made sure I was well taken care of… I want to be able to do the same for others,” she said.

Brittanie will be transferring to Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas and looks forward to obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
